Q-Games is celebrating 20 years of its PixelJunk series in style by announcing PixelJunk Monsters 3. The series returns to its roots with hand-drawn graphics, moving away from the beautiful but at times quite busy sculptures of the second instalment. It also appears to resize levels to single-screen size again. PixelJunk Monsters has been a personal favourite tower defence series for me. I vividly remember a patch for trophies, the encore expansion, and the sequels’ DLC tie-ins.
A private playtest for PC will take place on the Q-Games Discord from 4th September.
I’m excited for PixelJunk Monsters 3 because:
- We can still dance as our favourite lil monster to level up towers and make them better
- New hand-drawn graphics will be lush and running in 4K
- New towers, enemies, and boss battles
- A new roguelike system is being added, a first for the series
- Online and local 2-player co-op
- Whilst it is not confirmed that Otograph will return for the soundtrack, the trailer has the same pinky-ponk miniature cuteness that the series revels in
You can wishlist PixelJunk Monsters 3 on Steam.
