You read that correctly. Office Chair Curling is exactly what it says on the tin. 1v1 player battles to try and score the most amount of points possible as you throw your coworkers in their chairs down the office and hope they survive. It is gloriously madcap and the perfect antidote to the dark times of 2026. It is also a rare breed of game that has been released both on PC and Playdate!
With the Playdate supporting black and white graphics only, Office Chair Curling turns its graphics into a manga-styled artwork that is bold, brash, and in your face. Picking from a selection of office workers with ratings for their power, accuracy, and stamina, you’ll take to the office floor with your chairs to do battle. Aiming is quite simple, and the floor plan shows you where your trajectory will take you. Bouncing off of walls is a genuine tactic, but bouncing off of other workers and hazard signs is more dangerous. Most offices also have liquid spills, and these act as slippery surfaces, speeding up your chair as you power it up and let it go. On the Playdate, you’ll use the console-unique crank. On my PC copy, you can emulate that by spinning the analogue stick, or you can try retro golf and bowling style by pressing and releasing a timed button.
Depending on your character and your shot, a lot of success comes down to the powerful aftertouch abilities you have in Office Chair Curling. Brushing the floor can extend a shot, but you can also steer the chair’s arc quite dramatically. Skilled players can curve around other chairs and obstacles, and this is crucial in an extended game when several chairs are already littered across the office. Anything you hit or any chairs in play will remain on the playing area, making longer sessions more chaotic and tougher as you pick through the debris. It also allows players to set up chain bonks as you pummel one chair into another and so on. Surprisingly, Office Chair Curling gets the curling tactics down incredibly well. Just expect a heightened arcade version of the outcomes.
Whilst there are some initial leaderboard challenges to get the highest score for single player mode, your main fun will come from battling others. The AI are decent, and both local and online multiplayer are available. Online even has a full-on ranking system, which feels like a LinkedIn boast in waiting. Setting up lobbies is easy, and whilst the online section is in beta, crossplay between Playdate and PC looks to be available already. Speaking of LinkedIn, your coworkers throw out some great lines as they’re hurled across the office. If you have suffered corporate life, you’ll find it cathartic and humorous.
Whilst the core game is small and short, Office Chair Curling will provide tons of laughs. The custom match settings allow you to set up different target sizes, obstacle limits, and shots per game. This offers up a surprising amount of variety for such a small gameplay loop. Add in the quickfire nature of play, and its stylish humour and graphics, and we have a multiplayer gem. Don’t sleep on this, it’s a riot.
