Solo developer ViJuDa is back with a spin-off on the excellent Super Woden series. The isometric arcade racer is shifting its camera into chase mode – behind the car. It is a fundamental shift in how a player interacts with the game, and I wondered if it muted some of the game’s charm. I’m delighted to say that is not the case.
Super Woden: Rally Edge plays just as well as its predecessors, if not slightly more approachable for newcomers. The bespoke heavy yet responsive and slippery handling model shines in the rally set up, and the retro ’90s visuals are a treat, too. You can see some gameplay and hear my thoughts in the preview video.
