All Hail The Orb takes the best elements from various clicker and incremental games and runs them alongside each other as players work to satisfy a powerful orb’s requirements. The orb is buried deep in a dungeon that seems to generate all kinds of evil ducks. Use those ducks and increase each minigame’s power and efficiency to grow the orb and win the game. Are we the bad guys? Probably, but it’s a fun dalliance and a solid gateway to clicker and incremental games.

Whilst largely hands off, All Hail The Orb’s strength is that it asks players to juggle multiple systems and eventually join them up. Clicking the orb is replaced by minions who’ll worship it and generate religious power for your cult of ducks. A spinning wheel can generate faith, but requires minions to turn the wheel like a hamster. Librarians can read library books to gain knowledge, but specialising certain minions as librarians can boost the knowledge train. Mining ore is another clicker game, but minions can also take over on that game, too. The most involved part of the game is mushroom farming, which generates food for your minions. That requires players to plant some mushrooms and spend money to grow their garden by selling the produce. The last part of the game involves the ducks themselves. You can buy chances to win ducks at random like a gatcha machine. You can then allocate ducks as boosters to each of the previous games, and use eight of them to power some game-wide boosts as well. They are nice boosts, but honestly, they feel like a nice optional extra rather than being critical to success.

All Hail The Orb is the perfect example of making busy work engaging. You’ll be jumping from game to game, building up a hotel for minions to sleep and recover their stamina so they can return back to work quickly. There’s a lot of menu scrolling, but it’s enjoyable for what it is. The controls, user interface, pixel art graphics, and music are well done. It just flows effortlessly, and the game ends at the five-hour mark without overstaying its welcome.
As the game borrows from so many other games to become a streamlined “best of”, I think All Hail The Orb is a great introduction to the incremental genre. It’s like a selection box or taster tray to see if you like it before diving in further.
