I’ll always dig out a racing game to play as its my favourite genre to play but that does mean sometimes I’ll kiss a few frogs. Beveron is a PS4 game that feels like someone made an asset flip tutorial and then sold it for 79p. I picked it up for 39p and platinumed it in 7 minutes and during that time I was generally disgusted with what I’d bought.

In this grey block/sheet metal world that reminded me a little of Art of Drift, we play as a car that needs to collect all the coins within the time limit in 15 levels. The coins usually are in a curve or a snake and so you need to drive sensibly to grab them all in one move. The car feels like its on shopping trolley wheels and like its steering on a central 5th wheel – its very inconsistent. Sometimes the car turns hard, sometimes it doesn’t at all. At all times the camera view gives you a false perspective of where you are at and sometimes you’ll drive by a coin you think you’ve hit. Worst of all, these 15 levels are about 20 seconds long maximum except for the final one. There is next to no skill required and I was shocked when I completed level 15 that game just stopped.
This is a game for the platinum collectors only and even then you’ll want a wash because you feel dirty playing it. I cannot recommend this game at all for any price, but if the developers are serious, best of luck with exploring drift racing in the future.
