Made in 24 hours for Defold Jam 2024, Tiny Truck Racing is a short, free racing game that you can play via Itch.io or in your web browser. I wanted to highlight this game because the solo developer behind it has created a superb foundation for a larger paid game in my humble opinion. It understand what makes a good arcade racer better than many paid racing games.
This small game has five tracks, 3 AI cars and 3 difficulty levels for you battle for a championship against. The trucks are sturdy, predictable and have an initial understeer that drifts them out wide if you keep the throttle down when turning. It isn’t the fastest way and a dab of brake makes for a tighter turn but more finesse and skill to get the perfect line. On hard difficulty that means you’ll have at least 1 AI that can put up a bit of a challenge on some tracks even if you are an arcade racing expert. If the championship is won, then time trial can be helpful for hotlapping.
There is nothing ground breaking here but its refreshing so find such a well formed tiny racer – especially one made so quickly. I’d pay for an extended filled out version of Tiny Truck Racing. For now, you play it for free on Itch.io and add it to your Itch library for download too.
